as an artist and a photographer, i certainly appreciate the beautiful work of many newborn photographers but i find myself in a different category. i don’t photograph babies sleeping and posed. instead i prefer to do family ‘lifestyle’ shoots where the family interacts together and we capture the babies as they are in their own environment (notice the baby boy in the baseball glove–totally dad’s idea and I LOVED IT.)
to me, the best memories aren’t the staged ones–but the ones where our real personalities come out. it’s the simple moments in life that often go undocumented and unremembered and changing that is a real passion of mine.
i was so honored to be called by this family last fall to do maternity photos. a few days after we shot the images they found out they were having twins and a family of four quickly turned into a family of 6! “The twins make us complete” said the mom during our recent session together. and i agree–they are all perfect and enjoying the new relationships forming with a new baby girl and baby boy.
Here’s a look at our fall maternity shoot BEFORE they knew they were having twins:
to be invited into a family’s home is the ultimate compliment (in addition to being called back again for another session and being referred to family and friends of course). and i take that responsibility seriously…often staying too long just to make sure we’ve captured the family dynamic properly.
i enjoyed every minute with this beautiful and blessed family and hope to be there as they grow up over the years. thanks again guys for trusting me with your family memories!
