Big Ben…oh how you’ve grown up! {Denver Portrait Photographer}

i got to catch up with my friend ben this past week (thanks tiff for watching the boys!) downtown where we did his senior portraits way back in 2008. it seemed a fitting place since it was our original meeting spot. my intent was to juxtapose him against the city again to show the contrast of where he’s been and were he is now. to me it was a stunning reunion. the hug i was greeted with this time was from a young man with much more strapping arms and a world of miles in his eyes.

images from that long ago senior session:

he’s always been a super special young man with a ton of potential and talent (and he comes from one of the best families i know). this time he was an even finer young man with some of his youth chipped away revealing a deeper inner an outer strength. i wanted to jump into those eyes and hear the stories that they hinted to.

but we only had a few hours together on what what one of the hottest days in downtown denver. and i wanted to make the most of it and get as much of him as i could behind the lens before we both melted.

these images are super special to me and i am sure also to his family. he’ll be shipping off overseas in a few months. and time, once again, will thicken his skin and mold his character surely making him just all the more intriguing.

ben i had a wonderful time with you and am so proud of the young man you’ve become. let’s meet again next time you are in town ok? promise?

here’s one of my favorite images of him from a family session i did WAAAAY back in 2007…(as a matter of fact i use it as a header image for my blog!)

here’s a collage from images i got just a few months after enlisting while he was home on a break three years ago:
