Harley Owners’ 24th Annual Toy Ride to Children’s Hospital

I have always said that I adore people who have a passion for life.  This weekend I got to meet 4,000 of them.  All dressed in leather.

I was hired by this event’s sponsor : The Melting Pot restaurant to photograph this amazing vision of passion, love and compassion.  Over 4,000 motorcycles strapped with toys for the kids at Children’s hospital.  The event started at Aurora Sports park and ended with the loudest of roars as the cyclists arrived the hospital to drop off their toys.  It was a rush of black leather and soft stuffed animals and toys.  The solidarity was outstanding. The view of the kids who braved the chilly weather and the annoyance of IV’s and nurses pushing them in their chairs was so beautiful and so powerful.  For just a few hours–the hospital was a place of joy, peace, hope and smiles.

A photographer’s job is to get the best shots right?   Well I jumped onto the back of an off duty police officer named Bubba’s Harley and got just that–some amazing shots of the procession to the hospital, the smiles and the joy.

It was magical.  The excitement was palpable.

This is an event not to be missed.
