rocky mountain high….(colorado lifestyle photography)

i’ve struggled to find the words to properly describe the sound of hiking boots clomping on a rocky trail (mixed with the sound of paws pounding alongside). and what about words for the smell of the evergreen and pine trees? or what about the words to describe the wind blowing the early fall aspen leaves–almost dancing in the wind. ahh–and the forever peaceful sound of the mountain waterfall cascading through the slippery rocks alongside our path…

well–i’d rather leave all of that to your imagination. even though i have two degrees (in writing and literature) i am simply unable to properly express the above qualities into words that would be interesting or descriptive enough to entertain most readers. and photographically speaking– i’ve tried and i just can’t capture landscapes with my cameras and tools. to me-an image just isn’t all that powerful unless a person or persons are in the shot (or some moose–as you can see we also met up some grazing along the trail–so cool.)

so we took a most needed trip up to the mountains this weekend and hiked to the beautiful isabelle lake within the indian peaks wilderness. so here are some images.

the sights, sounds and smells of the mountain were calling us and we enjoyed each and every second. from the moment i came to colorado the mountains have comforted me and brought an inner peace that i have never experienced before.

come on our journey with us. {and i hope this post encourages you to get out and enjoy nature’s amazing beauty. fall is going to be early this year in colorado. don’t miss it!}
