my oldest son and i were in need of some special time together-just he and i. and it did wonders for our relationship.
our day started out with greek yogurt and fruit on the couch (usually a big no-no in our home) while watching curious george. next we played board games for a LONG time. he loves board games and truth be told-so do i.
we then headed out to the soccer field to practice. there he officially kicked his 41-year-old mom’s behind! he’s pretty darn good at kicking and scoring goals. the best part were the authentic smiles. smiles that i haven’t seen in a long time. the giggles that resulted from the smiles touched my soul and reminded me how much i’d missed the sweet sound of them.
and before we’d left that soccer field my son, who really dislikes pictures, asked me to take this photo of him so he could remember our day together.
we went to lunch and went to the grocery store to get the ingredients to make Rice Krispy treats.
it was so fun. much needed. so so special.
