Sweet Natalie… {Denver Senior Portrait Photographer}

Sweet Natalie is the lovely daughter of a bride i get to work with in a few weeks.   we decided to head downtown for some funky and artsy images for our session together.  as she walked toward me that day (it was the first time i had seen or met her) with confidence and beauty i just knew we were going to have fun and that she would be at ease in front of the camera.

a personal passion of mine (and something that i think sets me apart from other senior photographers) is that i like to include the family in the session.  why should it be just the high school senior?  why not everyone else–or at least mom and dad.  when a high-schooler enters the senior year-it’s a time of change for the entire family.  to me it’s a right of passage that the whole family is involved.  and, to me, its a time worth documenting together.

we chatted as we walked around and looked for yummy morning light seeping through the crevices of the alley ways of downtown denver.  she confided that she loves the stage (but only as a behind-the-scenes person helping with costumes).  it seemed strange to me that a girl this confident seems like she’d be a true natural for acting.  {she’s got a presence to her.  an energy.  an aura of lightness and three demential beauty.}  she mentioned the thought of attending school in NYC next fall…or maybe UCLA.  we chatted about her recent trip with her sweet mom to NYC to check things out.  i giggled to myself knowing that someday, somehow, this young lady will have some exposure to the stage beyond “behind the scenes”.  i just know it.

her mom described natalie to me as a girl who “doesn’t want her senior portrait taken anywhere near a tree in an open field”.  she went on to say she was artsy, fun and definitely her own person.  it all sounded good to me as an artist and photographer–so to the alleys of denver we went.  and it all fit together nicely.

thanks to mom and the rest of the family who jaunted around in the early morning summer heat with us to capture these fun images.  and although the entire (soon to be  newly joined) family was not present, i really loved incorporating you all into the session

sweet natalie–i am super excited to see what future awaits you.  and to mom and her very cool fiance–get ready…we are going to have some fun in a few weeks at your lovely and intimate wedding.

until then–here are some of my favorites images from our summer morning together.
